Bucket List of Blessings~

A bucket list.

Do you have one?

You know - a list of all the places you hope to go,
and all the things you plan to do,
and all the goals you want to accomplish before you "kick the bucket".

The entire month of October, we are going to explore what it means to live a life that counts.  The older I get, the more I realize just how fast time goes.  The more birthdays I celebrate, the truer the words of James become.

What do you know about tomorrow?
How can you be so sure about your life?
It is nothing more than mist that appears for only a little while before it disappears.
James 4:14, CEV

I want my life to count.
Every moment of it.
Everything I do.

So, before we even jump into October, I'd like to invite you to start thinking about your bucket list.

Not your trip to Italy or your hike up Mt. Everest.
(Although, I hope you are able to visit Venice someday, and if mountain climbing is your thing, scale the heights of the highest mountain in the world.)

Not the masterpiece you are going to paint or the book you are going to write.
(Although, I hope you have the satisfaction of one day hanging your portrait over your fireplace
and opening the crisp, white pages of a book filled with words from your heart. )

Your bucket list of blessings.

Your plan to take the everyday moments of life and make. them. count.

What can you (and I) do now, today, in the day to day living of our life, that will make a profound impact on the people around us?

What can you (and I) do to make the little, ordinary moments of life, BIG?

How can we live each and every day to the best of our ability and to the greatest pleasure of our Heavenly Father?

This is what matters.

This is living a life that counts.

This is living out our God-given destiny.

So...

what's on your bucket list of blessings?

How do you plan on spending the precious time you've been given here on earth?

Don't you want to lay your head on your pillow each night knowing you lived each day to the fullest?

Me, too.

Let's get started.

Let's make. it. count.

Make. It. Count. - Saying Hello to a New 31 Day Series & {Farewell Heartprint Hallelujahs}

December 19, 2010:
the date of my 45th birthday and the day I came face to face with reality.

As I stood looking at myself in the mirror, I saw more than wrinkles, a few (ok, quite a few) gray hairs, and a less than perfect hour glass figure.  Instead, I saw the end.  The end of my life.

I did the math and discovered,
unless I lived to the ripe old age of 90 or beyond,
I was MORE than half way through my life.

If I was blessed to live to be 70,
I only had 25 more birthdays to celebrate.
25!

Have you noticed how fast 25 years fly by?

It was then,
and that very moment,
I decided I better get to living my life.

No more dilly dallying around.

No more thinking "one of these days". (It was more than apparent, I was running out of "these days".)

I had to make each day count!

I had to make my life count!

Not to mention,
I had to make up for
lost time,
lost years,
lost opportunities,
lost moments when I was anything but all God created me to be.

So for me,
on that December day,
life began at 45.

What about you?

Have you been making the most of YOUR life?

On your  next birthday,
standing in front of your  mirror,
will you see someone who has made the most of the life you have been given?

Will the candles on your cake
be a true representation
of the ways you have spent your life
shining HIS light?

Starting Monday, October 1, I will be launching a new 31 day series entitled, "Make. It. Count.".

As we journey through October together,
I pray we will be able to see our life for what it is -
a precious gift to be
given away,
used up,
and poured out.

God created you and I
ON purpose,
WITH purpose,
FOR a purpose.

It's time, (dare I say, PAST time) to be purposefully living each day.

Meet me here each day in October and together, let's MAKE. IT. COUNT.

If you would like to invite a friend to join us, or let others know you are taking the 31 Day challenge to Make. It. Count., here is the button, free for the taking. :)

I AM~

One step forward.

     Two thousand steps back.

One goal met.

     One million more to go.

Uphill.

     Unrelenting.

          Unforgiving.

The taskmaster is there.

Taunting,

reminding,

rolling eyes in disgust.

Weary from trudging through the sand of self-reliance, I grow weary, tired.

I long to give up.

I reach for the towel and just as I am about to toss it in,

the Saviour is there.

                Uplifting,

        sustaining,

applauding with words of truth.

You are my beloved daughter.

I delight over you with singing.

I have begun a good work in you and I will be faithful to complete it.

Chairs in the Mist

Rest, my child.

Rest in me.

Rest in WHO I AM
.

I am enough.

I am God.

I AM.

The Miracle of Beyond~{Heartprint Hallelujahs}

Beyond....

Have you ever stopped to think about all the things in your life that are totally beyond you.....

In my life, (not necessarily Roget's thesaurus) beyond is synonymous with miraculous.

You see, I know what I am capable of doing.

I know my limitations.

I know where I stop and where God starts and this always happens at the place of beyond.

When I can't, but He does!

When God steps in and does the seemingly impossible.

When God graces my life with His power,
His ability,
His clout (if you will)

and doors open,

or close. (Even closure can be a good thing when God is in it.)

When dreams that are beyond all that is me (and sometimes even beyond my comprehension) become reality.

When beyond happens,

                           miracles abound.

Why would the creator of the universe be interested in my dreams?

Why would the King of Kings and the Lord or Lords step in and take an active part in my every day, ordinary, small corner of the world, life?

Why would the Lover of my soul purposely choose to love (and die!) for a sinful, no-good, filthy-rag wearing person like me?

This too, (especially this) is beyond me.......

and I think you will agree,

nothing short of miraculous~

Because Not Everyone Does~

Several weekends ago,
I stepped out onto my patio and discovered this.

I immediately ran inside,
grabbed my camera,
darted back outside,
and began snapping photos.

Once the balloon drifted out of sight,
I hurried to my computer to share this amazing sight on Facebook.

My status:
Look what was in my backyard this morning ;)
When I snapped the photo, the pilot surprised me by saying "Good Morning, young lady."
That's how close it was. Since I was still in my PJs, I just gave a shy wave back. ;)

Now, I admit.
It's not everyday you wake up to find a hot air balloon floating around in your backyard.
However, since I'm a New Mexico native,
and Albuquerque is the Hot Air Balloon capitol of the world,
I've seen more than a few in my day.

Exciting, yes.
(Especially when the pilot was close enough to speak to me.)

WOW material, not so much.
Unless you live in Delaware, or Wisconsin, or California, or Timbuktu.

That's when it dawned on me.

Not everyone does.  Have the privilege of seeing a hot air balloon, that is.
Something that was a rather "normal" sight to me, was amazing to my Facebook friends.

That's when the Holy Spirit gently nudged my heart.

Not everyone does, Stacy.  Know about Jesus, that is.

What if I wouldn't have taken a photo that morning?
What if I wouldn't have bothered to share it with my friends?

Exactly.

When it comes to Jesus, He is more than amazing.  He is more than WOW material.

To quote *lyrics from Sandi Patti and Larnell Harris:
He’s more wonderful than my mind can conceive
He’s more wonderful than my heart can believe
He goes beyond my highest hopes and fondest dreams.
He’s everything that my soul ever longed for
Everything He’s promised and so much more
More than amazing, more than marvelous
More than miraculous could ever be
He’s more than wonderful, that’s what Jesus is to me.

Having grown up a Christian,
in a Christian home,
hearing and knowing and learning about God all my life,
I don't always remember the simple, yet heartbreaking truth:
not everyone does.
Know Jesus, that is.

Sharing my balloon experience, brought smiles and happy thoughts.

Sharing my Jesus experience will
set the captives free,
turn mourning into dancing,
infuse hope,
break the chains of guilt,
transform a heart,
save a soul.

That's when the fire of God blazed anew in my heart.

I've got to tell the world about Jesus.
Me.
Stacy.

Right here.
Right now.
All the time.
ALWAYS.

And, you?  You do, too.

We,
Us,
You and I
because. . .
not everyone does.

We,
Us,
You and I
until . . .
everyone does.~♥

In Pursuit~

All is quiet and still.

The sun, tucked in tight beneath the blanket of the eastern horizon, has yet to stir.

From the hallway, I hear the slow, steady, gentle breathing of my husband. At my feet, the soft sighs of our little canine sweetheart, Sally, as she, too, dreams.

The world, (or maybe just the part of it that makes up my tiny corner), is still asleep.

Here in this moment,

the moment between night and day,

yesterday and today,

past and future,

my soul and my spirit are wide awake with desire:

a unquenchable desire to know you more.

I hear you calling and I want so desperately to open wide the door of my heart and follow after you,

to pursue you,

to walk in your footsteps until I come face to face with you.

I yearn to feel the breath of your Spirit blowing through me,

to hear the rhythm of your heart as my own heart falls into love, beating in unison,

a symphony of one.

My little dog stirs, breathes deeps, turns in restlessness and drifts off once again.

Restlessness.

I grapple with this, too.

How I desire to rest in your love,

to relax into your faithfulness,

to drift off and step out into the dreams you've placed in my inner most being.

But I resist.

I hold back.

I hold on....

on to what?

Nothing and no one is like you, God.

You alone are mighty to save,

tender to heal,

gentle to comfort,

strength to uphold,

wisdom to guide,

hope to fulfill,

glorious to follow.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So the hunger continues,
the ache in me spurred on by my unquenchable desire to know you more.
let's get on with the day
{Photo Credit}
To pursue you,
to walk in your footsteps until I come face to face with you,
to feel the breath of your Spirit blowing through me,
to hear the rhythm of your heart as my own heart falls into love, beating in unison,
a symphony of one.
For you, Oh Lord, are life.
Fighting Your Way Back Up~
"That's why I hate living in this world sometimes!"
The words tumbled out, wrapped around the tears gushing from my heart.
We stood at the front door, my husband and I.  There, on the front porch, a baby hummingbird, lying of its back, lifeless.
We had heard it hit; the sound of the impact propelling us to the door.
There, on the welcome mat, was yet another vivid, unwanted, unwelcome, reminder of sin.
Death.
It had been a week chock full of reminders.
Funerals.
Diagnoses.
Prayer requests.
Broken hearts.
And now, this.
I had had enough.
Enough of dying.
Enough of crying.
Enough of this world.
"It's just part of living in this world, honey.  You can't let it get to you like this."
Get to me?
It had already got me.
Hook, line and sinker. And sink, I did.
Down,
down,
down,
landing heart first in a spiritual funk.
Have you ever been there?
Surrounded by one heartache after another, it becomes difficult to see The One whose heart aches for all mankind.
Swallowed up in tears and sorrow, it is easy to lose sight of The One who swallowed up death, the man Jesus, the Man of Sorrows.
I struggled to find my footing, yet the quicksand of despair kept pulling me down.
I reached for scriptures to grab onto in hopes of pulling myself free, yet hopelessness kept the hope I needed out of my reach.
I knew I was lost, but I couldn't find my way out.
I knew where to run, but I couldn't find my way back home.
I knew The One I needed, and yet, I couldn't find God anywhere.
The rest of that day.
The next day.
The day after that.
A week and a half later.
Time marched on leaving me stuck in my funk,
faltering in my faith,
drowning in the darkness of an immense shadow that hid God's face.
Until, the day of yet another funeral.
Standing in a crowded room, I spotted her - the great granddaughter of the precious lady who had died. And, she spotted me.
Without thinking, I started making my way to her, as she weaved her way through one person after another in her quest to reach me.
We met in the middle.
I knelt down in front of her. She buried her head in my neck and we held each other.  This six year old and I, locked in sorrow.
"I love you."
It was all I could say.
"I love you more," came her reply.
With that, we looked at each other and smiled.
"I don't know," I said with a grin.  "I love you more than more."
"I love you most," she said, as she hugged me even tighter, leaving no room for debate.
Then, looking me in the eye, she whispered, "She's ok now.  She's not here, but she's ok now, isn't she?"
I nodded my head "yes".
And, as I did, I felt it hit; the impact of this truth propelling me straight to the door of God's heart.
Here, amongst the wages of sin and the very sting of death, was a vivid, desperately needed, more- than-welcome reminder of the gift of our God.
No more sickness. No more sorrow. No more tears.
Eternal life,
in and through,
Christ Jesus our Lord.
As I hugged this precious girl once more, I found my footing. Standing to my feet, I felt the firm foundation of my faith holding me up once again.
Wiping my tears, I felt God's love wash over me as I saw once again His face - the face of grace.
The words tumbled out, wrapped around the gratitude bursting forth from my heart.
"He loves us most of all.
That's why we're living for Jesus,
for.
ALL.
time."
