Your Rock-Solid Purpose for My Life~

"Do not tremble; do not be afraid.
Did I not proclaim my purposes for you long ago?
You are my witnesses—is there any other God?
No! There is no other Rock—not one!”
~Isaiah 44:8, NLT

Lord,
Sometimes, it's so hard to see your purpose
shining through the day to day of my life.
And yet, before the foundation of the earth,
You had a purpose for me in mind.

You created me
ON purpose,
FOR a purpose,
WITH a purpose.

When I start to sink in the waves of
discouragement,
doubt,
dread,
disobedience,
it's hard to keep my focus on Your purpose.

Help me to forever stand my life on You,
THE ROCK.
There is NO OTHER.

.
Hold me up that I might always have a clear view of you
in the midst of all that is surrounding me.

Remind me daily,
that You have a purpose for
my pain,
my heartache,
my victory,
my path,
my life.

I will not tremble.
 will not be afraid.
I will trust in Your purpose.
I will trust in You,
my solid rock,
my God.
There is NO Other.

Ever Mindful~ {Heartprint Hallelujahs}

When I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers—
the moon and the stars you set in place—
what are mere mortals that you should think about them,
human beings that you should care for them?
~ Psalm 8:3-4
The work of your hands,
creation,
above me,
below me,
all around me.

Vivid reminders of
Your
majesty,
glory,
and power.

And then,
there is me.
A tiny speck in this vast universe.

And yet,
You, oh God, are mindful of me.
You, my God, know me by name.
You, Father God, have count of the hairs on my head.

Who am I that you You would even notice me?
And, yet you do.

Your eyes are always on me.
Your ears are always open to my prayers.
Your thoughts are always toward me.

Not because of who I am,
but because of who YOU ARE.

You are
My Creator,
My God,
My Father.

And me,
I am never
out of your sight,
out of your love,
or out of your care.

A More Excellent Way~

And I will show you a still more excellent way.
~1Corinthians 12:31b, ESV

As the children arrive at Children’s Church, they are exploding with stories about what is happening in their world. This past weekend was no exception.

“Guess what, Ms.Stacy! We planted a garden at our house and it is so much fun! And, guess what? Now, we have lots of good food to eat!”

“How wonderful! What did you plant in your garden?”

“Carrots!”

“Mmmmmm….I love carrots!”
This comment came from the little girl sitting next to the young gardener.

“Green beans!”

“Mmmmmmm…I love green beans!”
This comment came from a boy in the second row.

“Tomatoes!”

"Mmmmmmm…I love tomatoes!”
This comment came from me!

“WOW! Isn’t God wonderful to have made so many different kinds of vegetables for us to enjoy?”

“Yeah,” said a youngster visiting with us for the first time, “I love cucumbers.”

“My mom really likes squash, and I guess it's ok," said a quiet girl in the front row.

“Well…….I looooooooooooooooooooooooooooove corn!” announced another. And, with this declaration, the entire room erupted in “me, too! me, too!”

“I LOVE BUTTER!!!!!!”

Silence.

Then, after a few smiles, followed by a twinkle in the eyes of the older children in the room, this comment from the youngest member of our group, a precious little girl barely three years old, was celebrated.

“Me, too!”

“I L-O-V-E butter!”

“Yeah, butter is the best!!!!”

And with that, the little girl just beamed. And, so did I.

So often we are quick to point out the mistakes of others. We look for any chance to point our finger, correct and condemn. Not these kids.

Did they realize the error? Yes, indeed. But, they made a conscious choice to lift up this little girl instead of put her down.

They chose a more excellent way.

These precious little hearts chose love. Instead of handing out judgment, they extended grace.

How God must have smiled.

Most of all, love each other as if your life depended on it. Love makes up for practically anything.
1 Peter 4:8, The Message

The Blessing of Showers~

Clouds have formed on the nearby mountains.

Several weeks ago, an uncommon dust storm rolled through our town;  evidence of  a land parched and crying out for rain.  The heat has been intense, the wind a constant companion.

As I watch the clouds build, my own heart cries out for clouds of it's own.

Clouds to shade.

Clouds to rain down.

I hear thunder in the distance and smile.  It it music to my ears.
This rumbling, it is more than the sound of an approaching storm, it is the sound of hope.

Tiny droplets of water now dot my windowpane. I unlatch the lock and slide up the glass.

And, I breathe in.

I inhale deeply and allow the moisture infused air to seep into every part of me.

Aaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh.

Right on time, Lord.
How we needed this rain.

From the corner of my heart, a tear begins to form.
Gratitude overflowing, watering the parched soil of my heart.

You are so good, Father.
You're blessings have no end.
Your faithfulness reaches to the Heavens,
then, overflowing with grace,
your love rains down.

As it falls we are

 refreshed,

 revived,

 renewed.

I watch as a hummingbird waltzes with one raindrop, then another, and another.
Fluttering his wings, the water spurs him on.
Twirling here, diving there.
He feels it, too.
This blessing of rain.

Heavenly love,

Fatherly care,

Godly provision,

sent in the blessing of showers.

I smile as the laughter of children floats in through the open window.
Unbridling their joy, the rain sets them free.
Splashing here, singing there.
They feel it, too.
This blessing of rain.

Heavenly joy,

Fatherly gift,

Godly delight,

sent in the blessing of showers.

From the corner of my heart, a smile begins to form.
Peace overflowing, sprouting up through the watered soil of my heart.

You are so good, Father.
You're blessings have no end.
Your faithfulness reaches to the Heavens,
then, overflowing with grace,
your love rains down.

As it falls we are

refreshed,

revived,

renewed.

I feel it, too.
This blessing of rain.

Heavenly sweetness,

Fatherly embrace,

Godly indwelling,

sent in the blessing of showers.

Free To Be Me~

Free.

Free to be me, whoever "me" might turn out to be.

This was always the deepest desire of my heart. From the sidelines of life, I stood watching the rest of the world march to the beat of its own drum while aimlessly stumbling around in the dark to hear the beat of my own heart.

Everyone else seemed to have it all together. Everyone seemed so confident in who they were, in what they were doing, in living their life. Nothing in my life felt normal. Being me felt strangely out of place.

My search has been a long, lonely, and often, frustrating journey. It's not easy lugging around heavy suitcases filled with insecurity, self-doubt, fear and a whole lot of other "unmentionables", day in and day out.

My search for me has led me on many goose chases, too. After all, I was looking for me. Me was searching for I. Talk about spinning in circles and getting nowhere.

But then, God stepped in.

From a prayer spoken in my heart, God started leading me on a path of discovery. As I searched for God, little by little, I began to see glimpses of the real me.

I began to see myself through the eyes and heart of my Creator.

I began to realize the emotions I feel, along with my personality, my talents, all five feet nine inches of me, was intentionally, meticulously, lovingly crafted by God.

And, in His eyes, it is good.

I am good. Not good in myself, mind you, but good in the undeniable truth that God does ALL things well!

Any accomplishment I achieve, any award I win, any head I might turn, has nothing to do with me and everything to do with my Heavenly Father. It is He who has created me and it is He who is at work through me.

I can't be boastful about who I am.

Any "peculiarity" I have, any idiosyncrasy I have, any distinction I may have, has nothing to do with me and everything to do with my Heavenly Father. It is He who has created me and it is He who has made me who I am.

I can't be embarrassed about who I am.

I can simply be who I am.

The balance for my life is found in Christ. The answer to who I am is found in Christ. The answer to why I was created is found in Christ.

God has made us what we are. In Christ Jesus, God made us to do good works, which God planned in advance for us to live our lives doing. Ephesians 2:10, NCV

For we are God's [own] handiwork (His workmanship), recreated in Christ Jesus, [born anew] that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us [taking paths which He prepared ahead of time], that we should walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live]. Ephesians 2:10, The Amplified Bible

I'm no longer concerned about fitting in or joining the human band. While others continue marching to the beat of their own drum, I have found the harmony of my life in Christ.

As long as I am marching to the beat of God's heart, I know who I am.

I am free.

Free to be me.

Free to be who God created ME to be.

What could be more freeing than that?

And, guess what?

It IS good.

Who I am, in and through Christ, is good - very good, indeed~

In the spirit of the 4th of July, I am re-posting one of my most popular posts.  I am so thankful for the freedom we have in America.  Even more so, I am thankful for the freedom we have in and through Christ Jesus, our Lord.

So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.
~ John 8:36
