Living Free~ Day 6 (31 Days of Wisdom)

An ant may not have much to show for himself,

no fancy car,

no high dollar home,

no star on Hollywood Boulevard,

but according to Proverbs 6, this little guy is our model for success.

Hard working.

A self-starter, go-getter, living-free trend setter.

You see, this chapter is all about living free, and the ant shows us how.

1. Don't set a trap for yourself

My son, don't put up money for what your neighbor owes.
Don't agree to pay up for someone else.
Don't be trapped by what you have said.
Don't be caught by the words of your mouth. ~ Proverbs 6:1-2, NIRV

The ant doesn't say "yes" to anything that one day may have him wishing he'd said no.

He tends to his business.

As a result, he lives free.

2. Don't steal tomorrow's rewards by wasting today

The ant doesn't kick back and simply hope, come winter, he will have food to eat or an anthill to call home. With no one other than himself to spur him on, he awakes early each day, making the most of every moment, every opportunity, every day to ensure his needs (and the needs of his family) are met and to witness hope turned into reality.

He tends to his business.

As a result, he lives free.

3.  Don't tear down, build up

There are six things the Lord hates.
There are seven things he cannot stand:
a proud look,
a lying tongue,
hands that kill innocent people,
a mind that thinks up evil plans,
feet that are quick to do evil,
a witness who lies,
and someone who starts arguments among families. ~ Proverbs 6:16-19, NCV

The ant doesn't concern himself with the affairs of others. He spends his time concentrating on his own responsibilities and actions. He doesn't judge, compare or criticize.  He doesn't plot evil or device ways to harm.  He lives in community with all the ants in his colony.

He tends to his business.

As a result, he lives free.

Living free.......

Tending to HIS business.

Doing what God has called us to do.

Accomplishing that for which we were created.

Building up the body of Christ.

Bringing glory and honor to our God.

Like the ant,

may we listen to the voice of our creator and live our lives

 tending to HIS business,

living in the freedom that comes when we live according to HIS wisdom.
